Nuts have many health benefits and are packed full of fiber and nutrients. They can help boost metabolism and even help someone lose a pound or two. A team of researchers from The Pennsylvania State University and Harvard School of Public Health conducted a study showing people who eat nuts everyday have a longer life expectancy.
This study was among 76,464 women in the Nurses’ Health Study (1980 – 2010) and 42,498 men in the Health Professionals Follow-up Study. Overall, people who ate nuts every single day, had a 20% lower mortality rate in 30 years. These nut eaters were also less likely to perish from heart disease, cancer, and other causes. All in all, study participants were unlikely to smoke, a lot leaner, and more likely to exercise.
Unfortunately, we can’t get away with eating nuts coated in layers of sugar or chocolate. It’s probably best to stick with dry roasted or raw nuts, avoid any added salt and oils, and stick to a handful a day. Go nutty and be healthy.
